Welcome!

I'm hoping the mass migration will include some potters and ceramic artists who like to discuss, inspire, and show their work. I claimed this community name in the beginning so it could be a place for all ceramics people. I stopped posting because it seemed mainly to be me, and I didn't want a community for just my work.

Let's get this thing going!

I lived near Cambridge (UK) for 16 years, and now in Silicon Valley for nearly three. I'm gearing up for my first Open Studio participation on this side, and wondering how much stuff to make. My style is deliberately wonky, so not really mass market appeal, but I'm hoping to find interested people out there, a few at a time.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, clay people. Let's get this community active in 2017. If ever we needed a place for clay creation chat, I think that time is now. I love how clay people support and inspire each other.

I'm six days into a new series of small, derelict buildings. Anyone else got new things happening?

Hello!

I just recently moved from Live Journal over to DW. I do wheel thrown pottery. I hope to post some of my work here soon. I'm trying to get enough pieces ready for a bisque firing soon.

At the moment I'm working with a earthware red clay with some grog. making plates and bowls, and a few bird houses. i also like to use a high fire stoneware buff clay, but i have to clean everything before I switch clay types because I only have one wheel.

abstract, art, beads, ceramics, clay, domestic ware, earthenware, electric kilns, engobes, figurative, gas kilns, glaze, glaze formulation, hand building, high fire, kiln building, kilns, low fire, mold making, mosaic, mould making, mugs, paper clay, pit fire, playing in mud, porcelain, pots, potters wheel, pottery, pug mills, raku, raku kilns, salt firing, sculpture, slab rollers, slip, slip casting, soda firing, stoneware, teapots, terra cotta, throwing, tiles, underglaze

Is it enough? Anything on there that ought to come off?

Beads

How about some actual images?

I made these a few months ago. They're unglazed, coloured porcelain. I fire them to cone 10 in bowls. They stick together a little, but come apart pretty easily. Blue jumps, so I fire them in separate bowls.

And here's a necklace I made from some of them.

Welcome ceramics lovers!

I wanted to be sure the "ceramics" account was made into a community for those who enjoy ceramics rather than just being for one person, so I nabbed it early.

Help me think of more community interests to help people find their way here.
